References, not replies, to the messages of the 23rd Feb 2001 by Athos Altomonte:

‘The adept and the living symbol’; ‘Diversity and synthesis of the initiatory systems’; ‘The Word was near God’.

I have the feeling that the three different messages from Athos Altomonte are in actual fact only one. The reader can choose to consider them intentionally linked and consequent or, which is what I think, the autonomous result of a unique global vision.

I’ll refer to them as a unique message, then; I will only separate one message from the other for reasons of convenience (but the reference/answer is one).»

As I have already noticed, you can’t hear well but you can see perfectly well; although you’re swimming in a zigzag line you’re getting on marvelously.


«…even to get that little something, we need to be directed by someone. I don’t believe in complete ability and inborn knowledge… I don’t think that the ‘little something’ is represented exclusively by the ‘inner push’…»

In other words, the search for that little something you mention, which I don’t want to define yet, can be so resumed:

1: free ourselves from imprinting and values involuntarily impressed on us.

2: recognize the imprinting and values we have intentionally impressed on ourselves, by imitation, conformism, habit, as a joke or by mistake.

3: decide ‘our’ path that ‘crossing’ various (cultural, intellectual and then spiritual) models leads us to a model of a superior order; this must be identified according to the individual abilities.


Our abilities are in constant evolution (or so we hope); therefore there are other factors to consider:

a) adaptability to the change produced by the motion, namely the change of inner panorama that by growing, reflects its change through

b) choices always different and better on exterior factors such as ideas, models and examples of other people more advanced than us ‘at the time;


That is the reason for an able guide (a true Terrible Brother) that leads us to cross, distinguish and discriminate the various models useful and necessary to improve our ‘ability to choose’ (remember the four symbolical Journeys of the first initiation).

The recognition, the knowledge and the ‘correct’ use (not by affinity or empathy) of the will to discriminate (living symbol: the Sword that separates) lead to the development of the ‘ability to choose’. This is only the embryo of the ‘little something’ that (for now) we’ll call Free Will.

e) Once the ‘gait’ in our ‘present time’ is over, it is time for the first choice, which will decide ‘what we want to become’. In order to make the best choice we must first recognize ‘what we are’ (Know Thyself, as it was written on the façade of old Temples).

The exterior teaching is true only until it is ‘used’ as a mirror to ‘reflect’ our inner emptiness and fullness. We’ll reflect the empty spaces to fill and the full spaces to improve. In order to balance emptiness and fullness it is useful the intervention of the benevolent and accurate eye of a Master.

A Master is the man who doesn’t tie but unties the pupil from the bonds of the lower mind. It doesn’t tie the pupil to himself or any particular model either. He allows him to go through all the necessary models so that he becomes so advanced that he can do without them and the only model he needs is his own inner one. When the pupil is ready the Master is ready as well to push him towards his reality. He will push him to turn and reflect in himself.

This is the beginning of the vertical ascent that leads to the empathic communication with one’s own ‘inner sky’.

At the top of this sky (obviously an allegorical statement) is placed our inner ‘divinity’. We’ll find out soon that it is part of us: our archetype or rather the Idea ‘around which we have built ourselves’.

In actual fact, our true identity is made of our many thoughts (this is chaos) that draw energy from the same source, the only Idea that is the Cause of our presence; this is called the inner divinity. When an Initiate can express in himself the Idea he becomes its sound and light. He won’t be ‘bearer of thoughts’ any more, but the incarnation of the primogenial Idea (Plato called it archetype). This Idea is conceived as a spiritual Being because of its characteristics of intelligent willingness. Several names are given to this Being: angel, deva, eggregore, disincarnated Master, spiritual Guide, etc.

Disintegration is a process of liberation from oppression and intrusiveness of the psychological models which keep us tied as ‘hostages’. It allows us to be free to ‘become what we want’ without having to keep the ‘social image’ that others want from us, unless we want to.

The ‘re-formatting’, as you call it, can be interpreted in a psychological key through ternary sequences that can be considered the true reference models of the initiate:

The inner dialogue (the hermetic V.I.T.R.I.O.L.) drives to deliberation and decision.

In order to advance we need to acquire the direction of the execution, which involves inner discipline and self-control.

This allows us the domain on disintegrating factors, such as dis-identification, detachment and conflict; it follows crisis and pain.

To become aware of ourselves allows us the creation of an inner unifying center that elaborates and analyzes elements provided by self-conscience.

The approach to the top of spiritual conscience leads us to self-identify with the light that will illuminate the inner physical conscience.

To illumination follows the recognition of Self and its self-affirmation (the initiatory Act of Will).

To recognize and assert ourselves as a metaphysical entity allows the self-creation and the self-realization of the self-Initiation.

Forgive my synthesis, but in order to develop such a subject we’d need the time for ‘an initiation’.

What you say is not flattery on condition that is put in the correct terms.

The lowercase ‘w’ should correspond (since you know about psychology) to ‘experiences of the top’.

The capital ‘W’ should correspond to the Top itself . How can you do this? We’ll see it soon.
