Teosophy: The Great Work and the New Era
Topic:QUESTION & ANSWER
|

Dear friend,
I imagine you’ve noticed that I’ve been in “quiet observation”
for a long time before going deeply into the subject you propose. The reason is
a certain speculative partiality typical of simplistic esotericism. Now, despite
my hesitation, I’m going to give you a first indication.
I’ll start by saying that the New Era, or Age of Aquarius, is not the result
of an astral conjunction, like some people believe, but it is the accomplishment
of a new and higher general status of conscience (collective consciousness). It
is reached and reachable also through the «Initiates» that go out
of their way to keep and spread the “Light” of the initiatory science
in the darkness of profanity (carnal conscience). On this point we find the relation
with the principles that motivate the Great Work and the White Work. Having to
face different states of conscience and different cultural representations, it
has become necessary to elaborate different points of view and different “languages”
(esotericism, hermeticism, etc.) so that “the same notions” can be
understood by different mentalities and cultures.
An example of this work, that drives the mind of the researcher from the particular
to the general and cosmic view of the initiatory assumption, is the “Treaty
of the Seven Rays” by Alice Baley. It is all based on the subjects of the
New Era (the Age of Aquarius), highlighting the most interesting ones. Such as
education, the factual reaching of (real) initiations, the service to Humankind,
esoterical psychology, esoterical probationship, the exteriorization of the initiatory
hierarchy, white Masonry, universal and not sectarian Religion.
It is the so-called New Era, then, that nothing has to share with the commercial
intentions of devotional and not devotional fashions and of the many “new
age movements” that are the shadow world of the most mercenary exotericism.
One thing is certain: we might not like the proposed journey and we might not
agree with its points of view; a memorable version on the subject of real initiation
stays, though. In order to face such a complex journey, that places at the top
the treaty titled “Cosmic Fire”, it is necessary to have an intellectual
sensitivity that is truly “super partes”. Maybe not many readers share
this.
I conclude by adding that this statement hasn’t been caused by wanting to
put in an appearance, even less by the sake of polemic. The reason is only a fraternal
solidarity, due to all those who dare going and looking for answers outside the
usual common places and, most of all, the even more common “Links”
to know by someone else’s mouth.
Fraternally
